Galvanized steel wire |  3” x 4” x  1” | 2025

This was the first object I made of wire. It was largely experimental - an exercise in learning the properties of steel wire and how I could manipulate it. I chose to model it after a Sony Cybershot W-55 given to me by my grandfather. On that camera, there are photos of me from when I was an infant, my aunt’s late dog Onyx, and my older cousin’s elementary school music recital among other things. In recreating the camera, I started to feel a stronger kinship to the object itself, and to the memories it held like a timecapsule.
